Nearby towns and attractions

The homes are a few kilometers from Nafplio, a lovely port city on the northeast coast of the Peloponnesian in southern Greece. Originally the capital city, it has a central plaza built by the Venetians and wonderful waterfront parks, sidewalk cafes and charming shops. The Palimidi, a fortress dating from 1700 and site of clashes between the Venetians and the Ottomans, crowns the hill overlooking the town.

In another direction, the homes are one-half hour by car to the ancient ruins of Epidaurus, Myceane, Tiryns and Assini. During the summer, Epidaurus is the site of a classic Greek theater program. There are lovely beaches every place you turn. Barrel wine is 2 euros per liter and fresh fish, olives and feta are abundant. Nearby villages offer waterfront fish tavernas and lamb any way you like it. Those who like fast food can happily settle for pizzas and cheese and spinach pies. A few hours away are the historical cities of Sparta, Tripoli, Kalamata, Corinth, Delphi and Monemvasia.
